Greenhouse gas: Tesla transition to sustainable electricity?

“In order to maximize our impact, we plan to continue increasing our production volumes and the accessibility of our products” Tesla Board[1]. Tesla purpose is to accelerate world’s transition to sustainable energy according to Tesla impact report of 2020[1].

If we well-understand Tesla main goal supposed to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions if instead of driving a fuel car, we replace it by an electric car produce by Tesla. But how, when United States of America Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)[2] identified that the two first main sources of greenhouse gas emissions are transportation and electricity production.

The transition Tesla fighting for will clearly increase electricity production and the production of raw material from industrial’s sector. Sustainability, according to the United Nations’ Brundtland Commission of 1987, is the ability of systems to meet the needs of current society without affecting the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Conforming to this definition, sustainable energy is the energy that powers the needs of the current generations and conserves the ability to meet those of future generations.
