TAMPA, FL., Nov 20, 2024—CANDO, the Caribbean American National Development Organization, has today announced a community health fair on November 23, 2024, at the University Area Park. From 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., attendees will have the opportunity to get free flu vaccine, free onsite screenings, and educational workshops.
The organization has mobilized local sponsors to offer this epic one-day event to help Tampa residents, including those dealing with the hurricane’s aftermath. CANDO will also offer free turkey, prizes and giveaways to attendees.
According to CANDO’s chairman, Francis Joseph, “The demographics of our community are affected by various types of health and wellness conditions. From a long-term perspective, these conditions impact our social and economic health. We are therefore aiming to help educate our communities to better monitor their well-being and make healthier lifestyle choices for themselves and their families with our third annual health fair.”
In addition, this year the organization’s motivation is driven by the hurricanes hitting Tampa Bay leaving behind residents with health expenditures of 8.4% which is higher than the national average of 8.0%. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (.gov)

“Our community was recently impacted by two major hurricanes to come across our area in recent years. With that, we are still in rebuilding and recovery mode. Our health is a big part of the recovery process so we are hoping that this health fair will contribute to our health rebuilding along with preparing us for the upcoming holidays and the New Year health goal setting,” Joseph says.
